2008 County hurling Championship Draw 19th July'08 The draw for County hurling championship was made following Kerry's tame exit from the Christy Ring cup to Carlow on Saturday by 1-14 to 2-4. Kilmoyley have been drawn to play South Kerry in the preliminary round, a game which is due to take place before the August bank holiday weekend. Should Kilmoyley progress, they would then face Lixnaw in a repeat of last year's County final. The other three quarter finals are St. Brendans vs Crotta, Causeway vs Abbeydorney and Ballyheigue vs Ballyduff.

Christy Walsh back in action with Kilmoyley 15th July'08 Former Munster, Kerry and Kilmoyley star Christy Walsh was back to his roots today when he trained the Kilmoyley seniors. In the absense of regular trainer Anthony Daly, Christy stepped in to take charge and put the local boys through their paces. Christy of course trained Kilkenny club St. Martins to last years county final. His enthusiasnm for the game is still very evident and it was great to have him back again....even if it was for only one session, but who knows!

Kerry hurlers advance to Christy Ring qf 12th July'08 Kerry defeated Meath in their second game of the Christy Ring cup on a scoreline of 7-11 to 4-13 at Austin Stacks park, Tralee on Saturday, and in the process qualified to meet Derry at home next week in the quarter final. As the scoreline suggests the goals added plenty of excitement to the game, but overall the quality of hurling was only fair at times. Goals from Mike Conway, Lixnaw (3), Billy Brick Kilmoyley (2), Liam and Mikey Boyle Ballyduff (1) ensured victory for the home side, but with five minutes remaining Kerry were in trouble. Following Kerry's defeat to Mayo, and Mayo's defeat to Meath, Kerry required a two point win over Meath to advance to the quarter finals, and a four point win to finish top of their group and have a home tie in the next round. But as the game entered the final stages Kerry were only four points ahead facing a strong breeze. Meath had been reduced to fourteen players just before half time to strengthen Kerry's hand, and midway through the second half Kerry had made the most of that advantage to gain a ren point point lead. But Kerry centreback, Kilmoyley's James McCarthy was dismissed on 50 minutes after a second yellow card and brought Meath back into the game, as they only needed a loss by four points to advance. But a late goal from Billy Brick sealed Kerry's win in front of a decent home crowd.
At half time, two under 12 hurling games took place involving 36 players from twelve Kerry clubs. It was a great opportunity for these players to show their scales in front of a large crowd. Kilmoyley had three representatives in Paudie Godley, Eoin McCarthy and Jordan Brick. It is hoped that these players will be nurtured over the coming years and develop their skills to ensure a bright future for hurling in Kerry.

Former Kilmoyley hurler weds 5th July'08 Congratulations to former Kilmoyley hurler David Brick who got married this weekend to Amy Fitzgerald of Tralee. David won county under21 and All Ireland Feile na nGael medals with Kilmoyley.

Intermediates through to County qf 3rd July'08 Kilmoyley defeated Lixnaw at home last Thursday to advance to the County championship quarter final where they will meet Ballyheigue. The final scoreline of 2-22 to 5-5 suggests a one sided game, but it was only in the last ten minutes that Kilmoyley opened a comfortable lead. Lixnaw started better and exposed some defensive frailties in the Kilmoyley defence with a couple of goals, and everytime Kilmoyley added points, Lixnaw replied with a goal of their own to maintain their early lead. With such Senior players as Maurice Murnane, Micheal Regan and Andy McCarthy Kilmoyley were expected to win comfortable but Lixnaw's goals meant the game was only decided in the final minutes. A goal by Adrian Royle ten minutes from the end put Kilmoyley in the lead and further points from Andy McCarthy, Padraig O'Sullivan and Gerald O'Carroll finished the game.. See Intermediate game Photos

Defeat for U13s in NKL final 1st July '08 Kilmoyley's under 13s were beaten by an excellent Causeway side in the North Kerry league 13 a side division 2 final at Kilmoyley last Tuesday. The game proved to be a non event unfortunately partly due to the strong breeze that blew down towards the dressing room end, and which Causeway had the advantage of for the first half. Kilmoyley found themselves two goals behind inside the first two minutes as the Causeway players showed more determination to win the ball. Causeway added a few more points before Kilmoyley broke upfield for Eoin McCarthy to score a goal, their only score of the half. While Kilmoyley's defence was under severe pressure throughout the half, their indiscipline in conceding needless frees allowed Causeway stretch their lead. As the half time whistle blew, the only question was whether Kilmoyley could reduce the huge deficit.
In fairness, the Kilmoyley players did improve their performance considerably, with Paudie O'Connor, Paudie Godley, Orla Young and Robert McElligott giving it everything. Captain Niall Young also played very well at stages. Kilmoyley's scorers in the second half were Robert McElligott (2-0), Paudie O'Connor (1-1), Jordan Brick and Eoin McCarthy (0-1). While Kilmoyley did "win" the second half, there was no question as to who the better team was on the night, and after, North Kerry Vice Chairman Joe Walsh presented the trophy to tCauseway's best player and captain Patrice Griffin.
Well done to the Kilmoyley players for their effort, especially in the second half, but unfortunately it was the girls last hurling game for Kilmoyley, and they will be a big loss next year at Under 14 level. Kilmoyley team : Sean Curran, Emmet Meehan, Niall Meehan, Kieran McCarthy, Lorna Sheehan, Paudie O'Connor, Orla Young, Paudie Godley, Eoin McCarthy, Robert McElligott, Rachel McElligott, Jordan Brick, Robert Collins, Fiachra King, Liam Claffey, Shane Monahan, Jessica Fitzell

Minors defeat Ballyheigue 28th June'08 Kilmoyley's minors had a good win over Ballyheigue at the seaside resort on Saturday evening. Ballyheigue scored an early goal but Kilmoyley replied immediately with a goal of their own through Edmund Meehan. Two further goals were added by Meehan again and Joseph McElligott. Pat Griffin and Luke Fitzell were outstanding for Kilmoyley.

Under 12s beaten in final 26th June '08 Kilmoyley's under 12s were well beaten by Ballyduff in the County league Div 2 final at Austin Stack park, Tralee last Thursday by 9-9 to 3-5. Kilmoyley started well despite Ballyduff being awarded a point that was clearly wide. An Eoin McCarthy pointed free levelled the game but Ballyduff scored the first of their goals through their star performer, full forward Sean Browne immediately after. Another goal was added shortly after before Eoin McCarthy pointed another free to reduce the gap. Kilmoyley were back in the game when Jessica Fitzell scored a goal for Kilmoyley but Ballyduff quickly restored, and then stretched their lead in the space of a few minutes. Another Eoin McCarthy free found its way to the net but by half time Kilmoyley were well behind.
There was no score for ten minutes in the second half as Kilmoyley, with Robert McElligott playing well at midfield, contained the pressure for a time. But it more of the same for the rest of the half as Ballyduff's superior strength eventually told. Kilmoyley finished well with a goal by Robert McElligott but it was not to be their night despite a great effort by all players. Kilmoyley team :-Eamon Dowling, Fiachra King, Robert Collins, Maurice O'Connor, Maura Godley, Emmett Meehan, Shane Monahan, Paudie Godley, Orla Young, Sean Curran, Eoin McCarthy, Mark Griffin, Jessica Fitzell, Robert McElligott, Kieran McCarthy, Liam Claffey, Philip Flaherty, Michael Leen, Robert Harrington.

Under 12s reach Final 13th June '08 The Kilmoyley under 12 team qualified for the final of phase two of Division 2 of the County League following their 6-5 to 1-5 win over St. Brendans at Ardfert last Friday. Kilmoyley played well from the first whistle and stlled quickly following a goal and a point from Kieran McCarthy. His brother Eoin added two pointed frees to stretch the lead before St. Brendans opened their account with a point. But Eoin was to add another 3-1 before halftime, with Robert McElligott adding another goal to give Kilmoyley a comfortable half time lead. Centre back Emmett Meehan was hampered with a leg injury but his fellow defenders played well to concede just three points in the first half. The second half saw St. Brendans applying a lot of early pressure as they tried to reduce the deficit. But with Paudie Godley and Orla Young hurling brilliantly at midfield, and Robert Collin clearing the danger from full back, St. Brendans could not turn their posession into scores, until the game reached the final quarter when a long ball was finished to the net. Keeper Eamon Dowling pulled off two fine saves to maintain Kilmoyley's lead. Another Eoin McCarthy goal five minues later finished the game as a contest and Kilmoyley finished their scoring with two Jordan Brick points. The Kilmoyley players were delighted at the final whistle to reach the final but will face a difficult task in defeating either Dr. Crokes or Ballyduff who were to play on Tuesday in Killarney. Well done to all the Kilmoyley players and subs as they all played their part on the night. Team and subs Eamon Dowling, Maurice O'Connor, Robert Collins, Fiachra King, Maura Godley, Emmett Meehan, Shane Monahan, Paudie Godley, Orla Young, Sean Curran, Eoin McCarthy, Jessica Fitzell, Kieran McCarthy, Robert McElligott, Michael Leen, Robert Harrington, Liam Claffey, Mark Griffin.

Seniors semi final abandoned!! 12th June'08 The Seniors faced St. Brendans in the second semi-final of a North Kerry championship double header at Austin Stacks park last Thursday, knowing that Ballyduff awaited the winners in the final. Unfortunately the match failed to finish as referee Diarmuid Carroll called a halt to proceedings ten minutes or so from time following a number of altercations and four red cards in the second half. In the game itself, St. Brendans were livelier from the off and opened the scoring from play with Brendan Harris replying with a free. There was little to suggest in the early stages that trouble was ahead, as both sides played committed and fair hurlling. It was St. Brendans who took a two point lead at the break. Kilmoyley played much better in the second half and had edged in front thanks to a well taken goal from Joe Murnane and two points from Edward Fitzgerald and Adrian Royle inside the first ten minutes. St. Brendans replied with a point to leave Kilmoyley two ahead before proceedings got out of control. We await the verdict!

Work starts on new ball alley 9th June'08 Work commenced this week on the new ball alley at the sportsfield in Kilmoyley. The old flowerbed and plants located at the carpark end of the training pitch has been cleared away and the foundations are due to be poured shortly. See Ball Alley Photos

Mixed week for Seniors 8th June '08 Kilmoyley's seniors had a mixed week with a win and defeat against Abbeydorney and Ballyduff respectively at Kilmoyley. The win put Kilmoyley into the semi final of the North Kerry championship against St. Brendans next Thursday at Austin Stack park, while the defeat effectively ended Kilmoyley's interest in retaining the County league.
The lack of training showed in both Kilmoyley's performances and had it not been for the fact that Abbeydorney fielded a weakened team, Kilmoyley would have been in further trouble. Kilmoyley also conceded four goals against Ballyduff which is a cause for concern, but it is still early enough in the year to work on the problems.

Win for U12s puts them in semifinal 8th June '08 Kilmoyley with a great win over St. Brendans at Lerrig by 2-7 to 3-2. Kilmoyley put in a great performance throughout the game but conceded two unfortunate goals to let St. Brendans back into the game. In the end, Kilmoyley needed a late Eoin McCarthy goal to pull this one out of the fire and this win sets them up for a semi-final next Friday (venue and opponents yet to be finalised). Best for Kilmoyley were keeper Eamon Dowling, Robert Collins, Fiachra King and Eoin McCarthy. Team in full Eamon Dowling, Fiachra King, Robert Collins, Maurice O'Connor, Sean Curran, Emmett Meehan, Robert McElligott, Orla Young, Paudie Godley, Darren Godley, Eoin McCarthy, Jordan Brick, Robert Harrington, Shane Monahan, Kieran McCarthy, Liam Claffey, Michael Leen, Philip Flaherty. Training continues on Sunday mornings for all hurlers aged 6 to 12.

Seniors back to winning ways...just 18th May '08 In the end Kilmoyley were lucky to come away with full points from this County league game at Kilmoyley on Saturday evening against Abbeydorney. Having led by 13 points just after the break, Kilmoyley held out for a three point win, adding just three scores in the second half. Two goals from Sean Young helped the home side to victory, but he poor second half showing will be a worry for Anthony Daly.

Defeat for Seniors at Dromakee 10th May '08 Crotta ended Kilmoyley's chances of retaining the county league with a narrow one point win by 1-10 to 0-12. Kilmoyley did well in the early stages and scored a few long range points but by half time found themselves only two points ahead. Kilmoyley only scored four points in the second half but still led until the final five minutes when Crotta scored the decisive goal, and added a late pointed free to seal the win.

Second win for Seniors 2nd May '08 Kilmoyley's Seniors earned their second win of the county league when they defeated Kilgarvan at Lerrig on Friday evening by 3-15 to 2-7. As expected the visitors proved to be difficult to break down due to their tenacious play throughout the game. But with Padraig Regan feeding plenty of ball to the other forwards, Kilmoyley got the scores to give them the win.

Seniors win in County League 27th April '08 Kilmoyley's Seniors defeated Lixnaw in the County league by 1-10 to 0-5 at Lerrig on Sunday to give them their first win of the campaign. Joe Murnane was top scorer for Kilmoyley with 1-2 with James Godley and Padraig O'Sullivan scoring the rest.

End of Feile for Kilmoyley 20th April '08 Kilmoyley's hope of winning the Feile na nGael ended in Ballyheigue on Sunday evening when they were beaten 3-7 to 2-6 by Lixnaw in the second semi-final of the competition. Lixanw stormed into a 1-4 to no score lead before Kilmoyley opened their account. A goal before halftime brought Kilmoyley back into the game but Lixnaw led by double scores. Kilmoyley's play improved after the break and the sides were level fifteen minutes in as Dougie Fitzell kicked the ball to the net. But Kilmoyley couldn't capitalise to take the lead and Lixnaw finished the stronger although Daniel Collins did score a goal from a free late on. There were some fine performances on the Kilmoyley side including Niall Meehan, Dougie Fitzell, Florence McCarthy, Daniel Collins and John Godley.

No joy for U12s in semifinal 18th April '08 Despite their best efforts, Kilmoyley's U12 hurlers were beaten by Lixnaw in the Division 2 semifinal last Friday at Lerrig. Conditions were cold and windy for the game and both teams were left waiting an additional half an hour as there was confusion over the starting time. The teams were evenly matched early on, but Kilmoyley opened the scoring with a Paudie Godley point. Eoin McCarthy added two more from long range frees. Lixnaw opened their scoring with a free but Kilmoyley full forward Shane Monahan blasted the ball to the net a few minutes later to stretch their lead. Kilmoyley's fullback line was under a lot of pressure, but cleared every ball that came their way. As halftime approached Kilmoyley conceded an unnecessary free which was superbly blasted to the net to reduce the margin. It was a huge task for Kilmoyley to continue their excellent play into the second half, and to their credit they gave it everything to final whistle. But Lixnaw proved to be too strong overall throughout the field and they scored three early second half goals to give them a lead Kilmoyley couldn't overturn despite their best efforts. They were unlucky not to convert one late goal chance, but did add points from Jordan Brick and Emmet Meehan. In the end it was a comfortable win for Lixnaw who now meet Dingle in the final, but all the Kilmoyley players can be proud of their performance and effort. Team: Eamon Dowling, Maurice O'Connor, Robert Collins, Fiachra King, Sean Curran, Jordan Brick, Emmet Meehan, Paudie Godley, Orla Young, Michael Leen, Robert McElligott, Eoin McCarthy, John O'Mahony, Shane Monahan, Darren Godley, Philip Flaherty, Liam Claffey, Robert Harrington.

Defeat for Senior in Co league 14th April '08 Kilmoyley's Seniors went down by two points to Causeway in round 2 of the County league in Causeway on Monday evening on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-11. Main scorer on the night for Kilmoyley was Padraig O'Sullivan, with Maurice Murnane scoring the second goal. In a bizarre ending to the game, referee Diarmuid Carroll seemed to abandon the game with two minutes remaining after a goalmouth scuffle. But he returned a minute later to restart the game.

Poor show by Kerry in league semi 13th April '08 Kerry's lack of a scoring threat eventually caught up with them as they put in a very disappointing performance against Carlow in the division 2 Allianz league semi final at the gaelic grounds in Limerick. Despite scoring three goals, Kerry could only add four points , and all seven scores coming from only two players.

Seniors, U14s and U12s in action 5th April '08 Kilmoyley's seniors, U14s and U12s were in action over the weekend with varying success. Despite a good performance at Lerrig on Friday, the under 12s were well beaten by a physically stronger Dingle side, whose midfielder Barry O'Sullivan put in a superb display. Kilmoyley will now meet Lixnaw in the semi final next week.
Also on Friday evening, the seniors had their first game of the year in Ardfert against the local side and were pleased to return home with a share of the points, the game ending Kilmoyley 1-8 St Brendans 0-11. Game Report

On Saturday the under 14s came away with a victory in their quarter final tie against Ballyheigue in Caherslee, Tralee by 3-12 to 0-3. Despite the final scoreline the sides were evenly matched in the first half and it was only as halftime approached that the winners scored 1-1 to strengthen their lead by 1-4 to no score. But with Ballyheigue playing with the breeze in the second period it was still all to play for. Daniel Collins tapped over a point almost directly from the throw in to stretch Kilmoyley's lead. A few minutes later he added a goal to almost guarantee the win. Substitute Paudie Godley added a third goal five minutes later as he continues his good form, while brother John worked hard to score two second half points. In the end it was a comfortable win for Kilmoyley, but their semi final next weekend will surely prove to be more difficult.

Weekend Games 3rd April '08 The re-scheduled Feile na nGael quarter final between Kilmoyley and Ballyheigue takes place this Saturday at Caherslee, Tralee at 6pm. The U12s play Dingle at Lerrig in their final group game this Friday at 6pm, and a win would take them through to the next round. Meanwhile the Seniors play St. Brendans on Sunday in their first game of the year.

Upcoming Games 28th March'08 The Seniors' first game of the year away to Lixnaw was canelled due to the weather.
The Under 14s play away to Ballyheigue on Sunday at 6pm in the quarter final of the Feile na nGael and will be hoping to progress in this competitiion.
Despite having an understrength team the U12s put in a great performance away to Lixnaw on Friday but in the end went down by 3-4 to 2-1. There were some great performances by Robert Collins, Emmett Meehan and Jordan Brick in defence while Paudie Godley and Orla Young covered every blade of grass at midfield. Their next game is at home to Dingle , who top the table, at home next Friday.

Weekend Games 23rd March'08 The Under 16s were defeated by Kenmare in the 2007 County final. Despite being eleven points down at half time Kilmoyley made a great second half comeback to get within four points of their opponents, but to no avail.

The Under 12s had a great start to their County league campaign with a comprehensive win over Abbeydorney at Lerrig last Friday in very poor conditions. Shane Monahan scored three first half goals as Kilmoyley played with the strong breeze, and were able to hold out for a sizeable win.

The Kerry Senior hurlers qualified for the semi-finals of the NHL with a hard fought win over visiting Mayo. Kerry led by 2-7 to no score at one stage in the first half but with five minutes remaining in the game the sides were level. But two late John Egan points edged Kerry to victory. Kilmoyley's James Godley, Eoin Sheehy, James McCarthy, Billy Brick and Paul McCarthy all finished the game for Kerry.

Upcoming fixtures 18th March'08 There is still no date fixed for the 2007 County Under 16 final in which Kilmoyley play Kenmare/ Kilgarvan following their victory over Lixnaw in the semi-final a few weeks back.

The Under 12s play their first game of the year against Abbeydorney at Lerrig on Good Friday at 6pm. This will be followed by games against Lixnaw (away) and Dingle (home).

The Seniors' first game of the year takes place on March 30th away to Lixnaw - a repeat of last year's first game. this will be followed by a home game against St. Brendans.

Kerry Seniors set for semi final spot 18th March '08 Following good victories at home to Wicklow and away to Roscommon and table toppers Kildare, Kerry have given themselves a great chance of securing a league semi-final place if they can secure a win over Mayo at home this coming weekend. Kerry have scored 11 goals in their four games to date, while at the other end of the field, Kilmoyley's James Godley has been excellent in defence.

This would be a great achievement for the team, and hopefully they can carry that momentum into the Christy Ring later in the summer.

Under 14s go down in their first game 18th March '08 Kilmoyley's under 14s were beaten by a much stronger St. Brendan's side in their opening game of the league at Ardfert last Sunday. There were brilliant displays from Daniel Collins and Dougie Fitzell but it was not enough to save Kilmoyley from losing 4-7 to 2-6. However, the manner in which the team finished was very encouraging and no doubt there will be better days ahead for this team.

Under 16s in action 23rd Feb'08 Kilmoyley's Under 16s play Lixnaw at 4pm Saturday 23rd February in Caherslee, Tralee in the 2007 County Semi final.
The Minor club's AGM will be held at the clubrooms at 8pm on the same day. It is hoped to have a large crowd as lots of help is required to train, coach and manage players from Under 8 to Minor level. All welcome!

Butler coaches in Kerry 18th Feb'08 National hurling coach Paudie Butler is in Kerry for two days and will take charge of a range of players and coaches from Primary school level to minor level. The courses will be held in Ballyheigue, Tralee IT and Mountcoal, with an empasis on coaching the cooaches as well as participating players.

Under 15s win 2007 competition 17th Feb'08 Kilmoyley's under 15s defeated Ballyduff in the final of the 2007 North Kerry league at Ballyheigue last Sunday on a scoreline of 2-9 to 2-6.

Kerry hurlers secure first win 17th Feb'08 Kerry won its first points of the NHL with a deserved win over visitors Wicklow by 4-7 to 1-11. Kerry led for most of the game thanks to goals from Gary O'Brien and John Mike Dooley. Once again Kilmoyley had a number of its players in action, namely James Godley, Eoin Sheehy and James McCarthy. This was a good win for Kerry as Wicklow had beaten Mayo the previous week, while Roscommon and Meath drew in the other pool game, to keep Keery in the hunt for a playoff sopt.

No joy for Kerry Seniors 11th Feb'08 Despite leading by four points heading into the final quarter, Kerry could not hold out for an opening NHL win at Austin Stack park Tralee, as Westmeath outscored the home side by ten points to three in the closing period. The introduction of three Clonkille players, who had helped their club side to an All-Ireland Intermediate title on the previous evening turned the game in favour of the visitors. Kerry won't be too disappointed however with the loss, as theri lack of training told in the end. The lack of a scoring threat up front did not help Kerry's cause either, as the forwards only registered 1-2 from play, the rest scored by St. Brendans John Egan from placed balls.
Shane Brick did not start the game due to an injury although he did enter the fray in the closing stages. In all six Kilmoyley players ended the game as James McCarthy also made a late appearance as sub.

Kerry hurlers in action 9th Feb'08 The Kerry Senior hurlers play their first game of the NHL this Sunday at 2.30pm with a home game against 2007 Christy Ring champions Westmeath. Kilmoyley have five players on the starting team with James Godley making his debut at wingback alongside Colin Harris at number seven, while Eoin Sheehy at midfield and Shane and Billy Brick on the forty make up the Kilmoyley contingent.
It is a difficult opening game for Kerry, but hopefully it will be just a stepping stone on the road to a Christy Ring trophy this year.

Change for 2008 structure 1st Feb'08 At a meeting of the hurling clubs and the County Executive last Monday it was agreed to change the Senior championship structure for 2008. There will still be an open draw for the first round and the winners (A) and Losers (B) of these games to face each other. The winners of A will go straight into the semi finals, while the winners of B and the losers of A will meet to see what other two teams reach the semis. This new format ensures that every team will have at least two games.
The other big development in relation to the championship in Kerry this year is that the winner of the County Senior championship will proceed to represent Kerry in the Munster Intermediate club championship, playing the Cork winners at home.

Great night at Kilmoyley Social 7th Jan '08 The annual Kilmoyley GAA social was held at the Ballyroe Heights hotel last Saturday night with over 200 guests in attendance. New County Board chairman Jerome Conway was a guest along with North Kerry hurling board chairman Tom Lawlor. There were six sets of medals presented on the night - Minor league and championship, Intermediate North Kerry championship, Senior County League Div 1 and Senior "B" North Kerry championship and the 2006 County U21 championship. A number of players - John B O'Halloran, David Fitzell, Andy McCarthy and Niall Young received all six! A presentation was made to Tommy Maunsell who was voted as minor player of the year, and Shane Brick was also presented with a trophy in recognition of his Christy Ring award. Long serving treasurer Michael Meehan was also presented with a momento in recognition of his service to the club. All in all it was a great night and hopefully next year there will be even more trophies on display.

New Hurling Manager for Kerry hurlers 5th Jan '08 Pat Heffernan of Limerick has been appointed Manager of the Kerry senior hurlers for the coming season. The appointment has not yet been ratified by the county board, but as the hurlers are due to play in the Waterford crystal trophy next week an appointment was necessary before the next county board meeting in two weeks time. Heffernan succeeds Maurice Leahy who was in his third spell in charge. Leahy is due to take over as trainer of the Kilcummin senior footballers in the coming year. Heffernan won a Munster senior championship medal with his native county in 1994 playing at full forward when they defeated Clare by 0-25 to 2-10.

Kilmoyley Hurling club Annual Social 4th Jan '08 The Annual Hurling club social takes place at Ballyroe Heights hotel on Saturday 5th January at 8.30pm. A large crowd is expected as there will be a number of presentations on the night. Pride of place will go to the minor hurlers who captured the Sean Lovett trophy, while the seniors will collect two sets of medals for the County league and the North Kerry league "B". Anyone interested in travelling should contact Michael Meehan or any club officer.
