Kilmoyley
1-7 Causeway 0-3
Kilmoyley moved temporarily to the top of the county league with this hard fought win over Causeway at Lerrig. Kilmoyley started the game without John B O' Halloran, James McCarthy, Edward Fitzgerald, Billy Brick and Joe and Maurice Murnane. Tommy Gentleman made his debut in goals while Niall Young started at corner forward. The game was played in storm like conditions and scoring proved to be difficult as the wind blew at an angle towards the dressingrooms. Kilmoyley played with the wind in the first half but were unable to get on the scoresheet in the opening ten minute period having a number of wides. Causeway opened the scoring with their only point of the half with a free but Kilmoyley's pressure paid off with a couple of points from Niall Young and Patrick Flaherty . Flaherty scored the only goal of the game with ten minutes remaining in the half and Kilmoyley looked to be in the driving seat. But they failed to keep the momentum going and ended the half by 1-4 to 0-1, Brendan Harris pointing two before the break. Tom Murnane had payed well at centre back but was replaced by his brother Maurice at halftime after receiving an injury towards the end of the first half. Kilmoyley were wide with a free early on and Causeway opened the second half scoring with a point inside five minutes. They too were wasteful in their shooting but Kilmoyley's defence was proving to be solid, especially the fullback line where James Godley was excellent. Causeway's indiscipline meant that the Kilmoyley forwards put lot of pressure on their defence and ended up outscoring their conterparts for the second half, despite the wind. Causeway did have two 21 metre frees near the end of the game which were saved and cleared by the Kilmoyley defence. Kilmoyley will not have been too happy with the manner of their performance but they kept up the pressure on Abbeydorney for the final two games.

Kilmoyley
3-21 Ballyheigue 2-11
Scoring 21 points and having a big winning margin over your close neighbours is always satisfying but Kilmoyley did not have it all their own way in this encounter. In what is a rarity these days, Kilmoyley started well in the fine conditions and raced to a five points to nil lead inside ten minutes thanks mainly to the free taking skills of Shane Brick who was starting his first game of 2007 for Kilmoyley. Tom Murnane was also prominant early on despite being nearly decapitated on a number of occassions by his opponent with wild overhead pulling. Ballyheigue came more into the game after this with a couple of pointed frees, and when the Kilmoyley full back line failed to clear another free, Ballyheigue levelled with a goal. They then went two points clear with points from play as Kilmoyley wondered just what had happened. They settled once again with another free and when Shane Brick scored a good goal a minute later, Kilmoyley took the lead again. Sean Maunsell added a couple of good points from play and when Joe Murnane added a second goal for the winners, Kilmoyley held a six point lead going in at half time at 2-9 to 1-6.
Maurice Murnane was replaced at the break due to injury by Edward Fitzgerald as Kilmoyley were taking no chances of getting caught and once again started the better of the two teams. In fact the game seemed over inside two minutes of the restart when Sean Maunsell scored Kilmoyley's third goal to extend the lead. Ballyheigue's first half efforts seemed to have taken their toll as they lost two of their more established players through injury, and although they continued to chase the Kilmoyley players throughout the field, Kilmoyley always seemed to be in control. Kilmoyley had the luxury of introducing three more subs, but this didn't stop the forwards racking up twelve second half points. Ballyheigue scored a second goal midway through the half and added a few more pointed frees, but the day belonged to Kilmoyley and especially their forwards who will hopefully carry this good form into the next game.

Kilmoyley
0-13 Ballyduff 0-10
A much improved second half performance saw Kilmoyley defeat the 2006 league winners in this third round clash at Lerrig, and in the process kept alive their hopes of winning this year's title. It all seemed highly unlikey after fifteen minutes when the home side trailed by 6 points to one playing with a slight breeze. The gap could have been wider only for a point blank save from 'keeper JB O'Halloran. But Kilmoyley gradually got into the game more through their opponents' indiscipline rather than anything else, and scored three points from frees to narrow the gap. James McCarthy, who started at fullforward, scored the best point of the half from distance with time almost up. But Ballyduff closed the scoring for the half to leave two points between the teams. Kilmoyley introduced Shane Brick as a halftime sub and he had a quick impact on proceedings with a couple of long frees. There was some good hurling being played but because of some poor refereeing the game was never allowed to flow and players becoming increasingly frustrated. With quarter of an hour remaining Kilmoyley were awarded a penalty but the decision was inexplicably reversed. In the end the decision mattered little as Kilmoyley resisted some late Ballyduff pressure to secure the win, much to the relief of the home supporters.

Kilmoyley
1-6 O'Dorney 1-8
Kilmoyley remain on two points after two games following this two point defeat to Abbeydorney. As the scoreline suggests, both sets of defences were on top throughout the game, but the over-elaboration by the Kilmoyley forwards while in possession and failure to take their scores ultimately cost them the game. Conditions were good for hurling as a slight breeze blew towards the left corner of the dressing room end. kilmoyley started without Shane Brick and James McCarthy, but O'Dorney too were without a couple of key players. Maurice Murnane opened Kilmoyley's account with a point but he had to be substituted a few minutes later due to injury. James Godley was making his debut at full back for Kilmoyley and he dealt admirably with a variety of ball that was landing around the square, as was 'keeper JB O'Halloran. Tom Murnane at centre back was again playing well as were the rest of the Kilmoyley defence, but with the volume of high ball coming from the O'Dorney half back line the pressure began to take its toll as the locals clocked up seven points before the break from play and from frees. Brendan Harris (2 frees), Paul McCarthy and Micheal Regan kept Kilmolyey in touch with points and the Kilmoyley supporters must have been optimistic as Kilmoyley had the breeze for the second half to make up a two point deficit.
The game started in much the same fashion as the first with plenty of determination being shown by both sides, even if there was a lack of a cutting edge by both sets of forwards. Kilmoyley had a number of wides from play and from frees and still had not added to their half time tally after ten minutes. In fact it was the winners who opened the second half scoring with a free as Kilmoyley's indiscipline caused them to hand over possession on a number of occasions. AS the game entered the final quarter an Abbeydorney shot on goal was blocked by Ian Brick and the resulting clearance reached Andy McCarthy who had just been introduced as a sub. He raced clear of his marker, had a hurley thrown at him, but still managed to level the game with a goal. Kilmoyley's forwards continued to struggle however and failed to score again from play. A long delivery into the Kilmoyley square saw the fullforward gain possession and score a decisive goal. Brendan Harris did manage one final free for Kilmoyley with five minutes remaining but that was the final score of the game. This was a game that Kilmoyley could and should have won easily, but because of the inability to take the scoring chances offered it was not to be their day.

Kilmoyley
1-7 Lixnaw 0-8
Kilmoyley opened its Credit Union County League campaign with a hard fought win over Lixnaw in a game played in wintery conditions in Ballyduff on Bank Holiday Monday. Due to the strong wind, the match was literally a game of two halves as Kilmoyley aimed to preserve a seven point half time lead of 1-6 to 0-2. This looked likely as Eoin Sheehy scored a fine point after the restart to strengthen Kilmoyley's position. But this was Kilmoyley's final score of the game as Lixnaw piled on the pressure until the final whistle. But they fell just short thanks to some good discipline by the Kilmoyley defence and good work rate by the forwards. Anthony Daly took charge in his first Kerry club game, and after ten minutes he was probably wondering what brought him to Kerry. Kilmoyley played with the aid of the wind in the first half but it was Lixnaw who settled quicker. Despite this pressure, Kilmoyley opened the scoring with Padraig O'Sullivan, who's 20 metre free deceived the Lixnaw defence and went all the way to the net. Kilmoyley built on this lead with two fine points from Sean Griffin. Lixnaw scored a couple of frees in the first half to stay in touch, but Niall Young and Brendan Harris added to Kilmoyley's tally to leave the half time score Kilmoyley 1-6 Lixnaw 0-2. Eoin Sheehy's point after the restart stretched Kilmoyley's lead but it was all Lixnaw after that. Luckily for Kilmoyley, Lixnaw had a number of wides and John B O'Halloran made a couple of good saves for Kilmoyley. In the end Kilmoyley held out for the win, and with James McCarthy and Tom Murnane having solid games at fullback and centreback respectively there was at least something positive to take from the game.
